A QR code catalog for your retail shop in Tanzania
By Abdul-Musawwir Khatri
Put one QR code on the counter and in your status. Customers scan it, browse your actual stock with prices, and send an enquiry or order straight to your WhatsApp. No more retyping the price list for every DM.
What is a QR catalog?
It is your shop shelf on a phone screen: product photos, prices, and a search box, on a page like bonyeza.app/yourshop. A customer who asks the price of sneakers in your DMs gets a link instead of a long thread. They pick size 42, choose pickup or delivery, and you get a structured message instead of three follow-up questions.
List what you actually stock
Start with your fastest movers, twenty or fewer. Each listing gets a photo, a price in TZS, and the variants that matter: size, color, or flavour. Items without a price get an Enquire button instead of Add, so negotiable stock still converts.
Close in the chat you already use
The catalog captures the order. You close it. Confirm availability, agree on delivery or pickup, and take mobile money or cash the way you do today. Shops that answer fast win; the catalog just makes sure the first message already contains everything you need. Built for shops: the retail page.
What it costs
Free covers 50 WhatsApp orders a month and up to 20 items, which fits a single shelf of bestsellers. Starter is 25,000 TZS per month and Growth is 45,000 TZS per month with analytics, loyalty, reviews, and a bilingual English and Swahili catalog. No fees on WhatsApp ordering. See the pricing page for prepay discounts.
Where it breaks down
A catalog is only as true as its stock. If an item sells out at the counter and stays listed, you will confirm orders you cannot fill. Update availability the same day, or pause the item. Also be realistic about photos: one clear phone photo per product beats five blurry ones.
- One QR code for counter, bags, and status.
- Prices in TZS on every fixed-price item.
- Enquire button on negotiable stock.
- Delivery address captured before the chat starts.
Questions
- How many products can I list free?
- Up to 20 items on the free plan, with 50 WhatsApp orders a month. Enough to test your bestsellers live.
- What if my prices change often?
- Update the listing from your admin page and the catalog changes immediately. No reprinting unless the QR itself changes, which it does not.
- Do customers need an account?
- No. They open the link, browse, and order on WhatsApp. No app, no signup, on either side.
- Can customers pay through the catalog?
- Payment is arranged in WhatsApp: cash, mobile money, or bank. The catalog captures the order so the payment conversation starts with everything settled except the transfer.
